Yes, and most web designers don't add it. Schema markup is the code that tells Google (and AI tools like ChatGPT and Perplexity) exactly what your business does, where it operates, and what customers say about it. It can put gold review stars directly under your search result. We include it on every website we build, as standard.
Local service pages are dedicated pages on your website for each service you offer in each town you cover. If you're a plumber covering Guildford, Woking, and Dorking, you need three separate pages, one for each town. Google treats each page as a separate ranking opportunity. These pages compound over time and are the single most powerful SEO asset for a local trade business. We include 10 local service pages in our standard programme, with more added monthly.
Honestly, typically 3 to 6 months for meaningful movement on competitive local terms, though some of our clients see early results within weeks for lower-competition searches. The key is launching correctly: keyword research first, on-page SEO baked in from day one, sitemap submitted, Google Search Console connected. Starting right makes a significant difference to how quickly Google indexes and ranks your pages.
Usually one of four reasons: no keyword research was done before the site was built; on-page SEO wasn't set up correctly; the site has no local service pages; or the Google Search Console was never connected and the sitemap was never submitted. Sometimes it's all four. These are exactly the things we check and fix as part of every build.
